In 2025, more than 16 million hryvnias will be spent from the Mykolaiv budget to organise recreation for children from privileged categories. This will allow 848 children to go on holiday.
The decision was made by the executive committee of the city council on 9 April, according to NikVesti.
Preference will be given to children who did not go on holiday in 2024, said Yuliia Kravchenko, head of the city council's children's service.
«Children aged 7 to 17 will be sent to children's health and recreation centres. The first priority is given to orphans, children deprived of parental care, children of our defenders, children whose parents were killed or went missing in the combat zone, children of those killed in the war, and children whose parents are IDPs.
But if last year a child received a holiday, this year, if there is an application from a combatant or an orphan, preference will be given to them,» explained Yuliia Kravchenko.
Earlier it was reported that in 2025, 22.3 million hryvnias will be allocated from the budget of Mykolaiv City Council for the rehabilitation of 1158 children in need of special social attention and support. In 2024, 8.5 million hryvnias was allocated from the Mykolaiv budget for the rehabilitation of 515 children. This means that in 2025 the number of children to be rehabilitated will more than double.
