In Odesa region, the road between Izmail and Kiliia (T-1607), which passes through the Kofa Canal, has been repaired. Repairs to the bridge over the canal are ongoing.
This was reported by the Infrastructure Recovery and Development Service.
The bridge structure with a railing has already been installed, and asphalt has been laid. Work is underway on the approaches to the bridge and on the bridge structure itself: filling the embankment and cones near the piers, installing separators, and constructing spillways. The bridge itself was built in the 60s of the last century. In 2021, due to its emergency condition, it was closed to all traffic.
Road builders also note that the bridge is an important strategic structure in the south of Odesa region, connecting the ports of Izmail and Kiliia and is of great importance to four communities in the Izmail district.
«The repair of the bridge and the T-16-07 road at the entrance to the bridge will increase the capacity and significantly speed up the movement of civilian cars, ambulances, school buses, emergency services and heavy vehicles carrying goods of economic importance,», the statement said.
As a reminder, the Voznesensk community has started testing the restored railway bridge, which was destroyed in 2022 as a result of hostilities.
