South Ukrainian NPP. Photos from the world of uatomA public discussion has begun in Pivdennoukrainsk regarding the construction of power units №4 and №5 on the territory of the South Ukraine NPP.
This was reported by the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
The construction of the power units is planned on the industrial site of the South Ukraine NPP outside its existing protective perimeter. Power units №4 and №5 will have a water-water double-circuit pressurized water reactor AR 1000 manufactured by Westinghouse with a design electrical capacity of 1.1 GW each.
The public discussion will last 12 working days. Comments and suggestions are accepted at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
In November, it was reported that preparatory work is underway at the South Ukraine NPP before the construction of two power units. A geodetic report on the selection of a site for the construction of these facilities has already been developed and relevant geological surveys have been conducted.
Thus, at the South Ukraine NPP, where three power units with a total capacity of 3,000 MW are currently in operation, new power units №4 and №5 will be built using American AP1000 Westinghouse technology.
