From November 10, the European Union will introduce new rules for entering the countries of the Schengen zone. They will apply to all non-EU citizens, including Ukrainians, regardless of whether or not they have a visa.

As stated on the website of the Government portal, the system will automatically record the entry and exit of all foreigners to the countries of the Schengen zone.

The EES system will record biometric data once and store it for 3 years. At the same time, there will no longer be stamps in the passport, and registration will take place automatically through self-service terminals.

What to expect at the border

During the first entry, biometric data will be taken from citizens: fingerprints and a photo of the face.

Border crossing times may increase, but only by about 40 seconds while data is being collected.

Biometric data will be stored for three years, there is no need to resubmit them.

If a person refuses biometrics, he is refused entry.

Then, at each border crossing, you will need to scan your passport at the self-service terminal.

It is noted that the innovations are being introduced to simplify border crossing, strengthen security with the help of biometric documents, prevent the use of forged passports and combat illegal migration.

We will remind that earlier the spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andrii Demchenko stated that currently conscripted women have the right to cross the border, the border guards do not check whether they have updated their data.
