«Let there be light»: Energy companies have restored electricity supply to part of the Mykolaiv region

Power engineers have restored power supply to cities and villages in the north and northeast of the Mykolaiv region after bad weather.

«Tens of kilometers of wires, more than 300 poles of power lines, almost a thousand insulators — quantity of materials were used to revive the settlements. It was a titanic and exhausting work of a whole team of professionals. Neither the weather nor the enemy's tricks will ever stand in our way — let there be light!», it was reported there.

Bad weather in Mykolaiv Oblast. What is known?

As forecasters reported, significant precipitation was expected in the afternoon of January 7 and during the day of January 8, rain with transition to snow. On the night of January 9 — snow, ice and blizzards. A significant decrease in temperature to 8°-13° of frost. There is ice on the roads and the wind has increased to 17-22 m/s.

Experts noted that difficult weather conditions can lead to complications in the work of utility and energy enterprises and disruptions in the operation of transport on certain sections of roads in the region.

The mayor of Mykolaiv said that the municipal services of the city are already prepared for prompt response and elimination of possible consequences of bad weather.

The head of Mykolayiv RMA Vitalii Kim stated that the region has also started preparations for the liquidation of possible consequences and the operation of Points of Invincibility on a 24-hour basis.

As of January 8, in the Mykolaiv Oblast due to worsening weather, the number of settlements without electricity has increased to 208.

At the same time, municipal services of Mykolaiv began treating roads with reagents. 10 units of special equipment «ELU Avtodorih» worked on the streets of the city.

Mykolaiv rescuers also pulled 6 cars from slippery roads in the region during the day. For this purpose, units of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine made 11 trips.
