«Kyivstar» users once again complained about a malfunction — there is no connection and no Internet

On the morning of December 12, «Kyivstar» users from Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipro and other regions of Ukraine again began to complain about communication failure and lack of Internet access.

The press service of the operator reports that there are difficulties with communication in the western and southern regions of Ukraine.

Users also report that it is impossible to check the balance of the account and use other services in the application.

The Kyivstar company commented on the situation.

«We know that there are currently difficulties with voice communication and the operation of the mobile application in a number of cities in the west and south of Ukraine. The company's specialists are working to restore services. We do our best to resolve technical issues as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience,» the mobile operator said in a message.

We would like to remind you that on Tuesday, December 12, a major failure occurred in the work of the «Kyivstar» operator. Users have reported a lack of connection, the Internet, and the operator's website is also not working. In particular, the failure affected the operation of bank terminals and the notification system.

Later, «Kyivstar» stated that the cause of the large-scale disruption in work was a powerful hacker attack, but assured that the personal data of customers is safe. On the evening of December 12, the Kyivstar company announced that it had partially resumed the operation of fixed communication services (with stationary equipment).

«Kyivstar» also believes that on December 12, a hacker attack was carried out on the company, the likes of which have not yet occurred in the telecommunications industry in the world.

Russian hackers from the Solntsepek group claimed responsibility for the cyber attack on the Kyivstar mobile operator. The Security Service of Ukraine stated that these hackers work in a division of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU).
