«‎I would join him in the team»,‎ — Marchenko wants Zaluzhnyi to run for president

Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Marchenko wants the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army Valerii Zaluzhnyi to run for the post of President of Ukraine in the upcoming elections.

He stated his desire in an interview with Yanina Sokolova.

When asked whether he would take the post of commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces in the event of Valery Zaluzhnyi's presidency, Dmytro Marchenko replied that he would rather join his team.

— No, I would join him in the team. The General Staff has a lot of specialists who graduated from the academy in the field of military management. I didn't do that before the war, I had material support and a food system, — said the major general.

So, in his opinion, there are more experienced candidates for the post of commander-in-chief in the General Staff.

— That is, the fact that I remembered the books I was taught by at the institute and the experience I gained in the 14th year does not make me a very good specialist as a commander-in-chief or chief of the General Staff. There are more experienced officers and generals, and I don't understand if I was appointed, — he said.

When asked by a journalist whether Dmytro Marchenko would like Valerii Zaluzhnyi to become the president of Ukraine, the general said: «God forbid! I would really like to».

It will be recalled that Major General Dmytro Marchenko previously stated in an interview with NikVesti that he is not going to build a political career and does not associate himself with any political force.

As is known, last summer Major General Dmytro Marchenko was appointed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi to the position of organizer of interaction between the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration and the partisan movement in southern Ukraine.
