«We have both a centralized water supply and wells», — Kuhta on the provision of water in Snihurivka after the blow-up of the hydroelectric power station

The state of water in Snihurivka in the Mykolaiv region after the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP dam has returned to the standards of the SSTU. Currently, the entire city is provided with centralized water supply.

Ivan Kukhta, the head of the Snihurivka MBA, told about this in a comment to the NikVesti correspondent.

The head of the MBA says that, according to the standards of the State Technical Service of Ukraine, the water supplied is technical, but suitable for consumption after boiling. At the same time, 5 wells were drilled in three micro-districts of Snihurivka, thanks to which local residents are provided with drinking water.

— The water has returned to normal. According to SSTU standards, it is technical, but it can be used after boiling. You can cook food with it, there are no problems with that. The centralized water supply began to work after the indicators returned to the state before the flooding. But at the same time, we worked with charitable foundations and asked them to help us drill wells. We received funding and were able to drill 5 wells in three micro-districts and currently these micro-districts are disconnected from the centralized water supply, they have their own separate wells and are thus provided with drinking water. First, it is better quality water, and secondly, we will be able to provide more drinking water with less risk, God forbid, if there is a blackout, — said Ivan Kukhta.

He also mentioned that an additional challenge was the restoration of water supply after the liberation of the city from Russian troops.

— It was very difficult when we returned here and had to provide water to people after the deoccupation. We needed very powerful generators to provide the entire settlement with drinking water, because the centralized water supply is large, there are a lot of pipes, and energy-intensive generators were needed for this, — he added.

As you know, at dawn on June 6, it became known about the undermining of the Kakhovka HPP dam. In a matter of hours, villages and cities of Kherson region and Mykolaiv region were in the flooding zone. In particular, the water passed through 13 settlements of the Snihurivka community.

Already on June 9, it became known that the water rose by 6 meters. It took several weeks for her to leave.

After the disaster, the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention provided Snihurivka Oblast with water disinfection tablets.

Due to the increase in the water level in the Inhulets River in the city of Snihurivka, part of the wells flooded, which led to problems with water supply.
