Mykolaiv Oblast became the first Ukrainian region in which the construction of fortifications was completed.

Deputy Chairman of the Mykolayiv RMA Valentyn Haidarzhy told about this during a meeting with First Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Havryliuk.

«The task of construction of fortifications has been completed 100%,» the RMA said in a statement.

According to Valentyn Haidarzhy, Mykolaiv Oblast was the first to submit a package of fortification documents for approval. On the other hand, the head of the RMA, Vitalii Kim, added that the integrity check of the contractors who were engaged in the construction of fortifications is still ongoing today.

We will remind you that in May Mykolaiv Oblast became the leader in terms of the number of equipped fortifications. Vitalii Kim noted that Mykolaiv region is in the second echelon in terms of attack risks, but at the same time it is the first in terms of the pace of completion of fortification tasks.

Note that in April 2024, the government allocated an additional 5.6 billion hryvnias for the construction of fortifications in the Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and Kherson regions.

According to the government, from the beginning of 2024, almost 38 billion hryvnias have been allocated from the state budget to strengthen the defense lines.

According to the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, work on the arrangement of fortification defense lines is carried out practically continuously, but the biggest problem now remains enemy drones. It is noted that the defense lines are arranged by both military and civilian workers.

In addition, the head of the Strategic Communications Center of the Southern Defense Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, told «News of Azov» that fortifications are being created not only in the Mykolaiv region, but also in other regions of the south in case of unforeseen circumstances: «Yes, of course, a fortification somewhere in area, for example, between Mykolaiv and Odesa, in the fields. And, of course, the question may arise, what is going on? Are we already waiting for the enemy on the Odesa highway? In fact, what is planned and should have happened is happening.»
