As part of the project to build a water supply system for Mykolaiv, it is planned to install solar power plants at pumping stations, which will reduce electricity costs. Accordingly, the cost of the water tariff for citizens should be lower.
This was stated by Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Water Administration, during an on-site meeting at the construction site.
«We are doing everything possible to reduce electricity costs. For example, we have planned to install solar power plants at key facilities. Accordingly, the cost of water for Mykolaiv residents will be lower,» the regional administration's press service quoted the head of the region as saying.
The meeting was also attended by the head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Recovery and Development, Serhii Sukhomlyn. He noted that the project also includes the reconstruction of sewage treatment plants to provide clean water to the townspeople, promising that the water supply system itself would be built efficiently and on time.
«We will definitely fulfil this task. We are working around the clock to ensure that Mykolaiv residents have water in August,» said Serhii Sukhomlyn.
As of April, the following work has been completed: 40% of the pipes have been laid, the vegetation layer has been removed, trenching is almost complete, and the installation of wells and chambers is underway. The main construction works will be completed by the end of summer 2025, after which the system will be adjusted.

The meeting also discussed the possible reduction in the cost of the project «due to technical solutions», but the RMA assured that the water quality would remain at a high level.
In addition, the Agency added that they are working on a system that will be able to provide farmers in Mykolaiv region with water for irrigation.
«It is important that this water pipeline is not only for Mykolaiv, it will also provide water to farmers in the Nova Odesa community», said Serhii Sukhomlyn.
It was also reported today that it was decided to lay a new water supply system for Mykolaiv from Nova Odesa, as it is «the nearest site with good quality drinking water».
As a reminder, on 7 April, the Service for Infrastructure Restoration and Development in Mykolaiv Oblast cancelled three contracts with contractors that were supposed to build a new water supply system for Mykolaiv. The respective supplementary agreements on termination of contracts were concluded with the companies «Avtostrada», «Ukrtransmist» and «Rostdorstroi».
