The City Council made changes to the budget of Mykolaiv for 2024: more than ₴100 million was allocated for defense

On Thursday, April 25, deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council made changes to the city budget for 2024. In particular, about 107 million hryvnias were allocated to defense.

The corresponding decision was adopted at the session by a majority of votes, NikVesti reports.

The director of the finance department of the city council, Vira Sviatelyk, noted that the decision proposes to determine the revenues of the budget of Mykolaiv in 2024 in the amount of 5.1 billion hryvnias, expenses — 6.5 billion. Thus, budget expenditures were increased by 1.3 billion hryvnias.

47 million 963 thousand hryvnias were allocated due to the redistribution of free balances for measures and work on territorial defense and mobilization training, support for the security and defense forces.

Another 60 million hryvnias will be spent on activities and work on waste disposal and mobilization training, support of the security and defense forces. In total, it is 107 million 963 thousand hryvnias.

The mayor of the city, Oleksandr Sienkevych, also reminded that during the last session , 57.6 million hryvnias were allocated from the free balance of the city budget to support the Council of Ministers, as well as the Security and Defense Forces.

The project also provided for the allocation of 39.4 million hryvnias for shelter repairs.

In addition, 29 million hryvnias will be allocated to the implementation of the «Available Water» program. We are talking about allocating funds to «Mykolaivovoblteploenergo» for the maintenance of water treatment systems, repairs, equipment, etc.

Also, a total of 292 million hryvnias will be used to replenish the authorized capital of the company, which will be used to pay off debts, liquidate the consequences of the war, pay for energy sources, etc.

Money for defense

As you know, in 2023 the city directed about 740 million hryvnias to the needs of the Defense Forces.

Also, from the budget of Mykolaiv in 2023, 400 million hryvnias were allocated for the military, of which 200 million hryvnias went to purchase housing for military personnel serving in parts of the Mykolaiv garrison.

In addition, Oleksandr Sienkevych previously published the schedule of the city council with the financing of the military, on which almost 700 million hryvnias were spent. 17 new vehicles were purchased and handed over to the Armed Forces with city funds, another 89 pieces of equipment were handed over to parts from utility companies.

In 2023, the Planning and Budget Commission of the Mykolaiv City Council also approved the allocation of 9.6 million hryvnias in subventions for the purchase of 415 drones of various modifications, as well as communication devices and night vision devices for the needs of the military.
