In Lithuania, it is proposed to temporarily ban the import and transit of agricultural products and fodder of Russian and Belarusian production.

The proposal to amend the law on agriculture was made by Kazis Starkevičius, chairman of the Seimas Committee on Economy, writes Delfi Lithuania.

If the proposal is approved, the Seimas will introduce a ban on «importation, importation and transit of agricultural products and fodder, the country of origin of which is the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania."

The ban is proposed to be implemented from April 15 this year until July 1, 2025. It is proposed to approve lists of agricultural products and fodder prohibited for import, import or transit through the territory of Lithuania.

In addition, one of the demands of the Lithuanian farmers who protested in January was to stop the transit of Russian grain.

We will remind you that the government of Latvia has banned the import of grain from the territory of Russia and demands the same step from the European Union, since all Russian agricultural products can be replaced by goods from Ukraine.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also wants to introduce comprehensive EU sanctions on agricultural products from the Russian Federation and Belarus.
