During a trilateral meeting in the UAE, representatives of Moscow insisted that Ukraine and Russia should share the electricity produced by the currently occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
This was reported by Politico, citing American officials.
It is noted that a significant part of the negotiations in Abu Dhabi on the possible end of Russia's war against Ukraine focused on economic issues, as well as on who would control the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
As previously reported, the parties failed to reach an agreement.
According to an American official, both sides, Ukraine and Russia, «are beginning to imagine what they can get from peace.»
«For example, a plan for prosperity for Ukraine, as well as some opportunities for Russia to conclude business deals with the US,» he explained.
This is not the first time that a proposal to «divide» the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been made. Earlier, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Washington offered him an option to jointly use the ZNPP, dividing it between Ukraine, the US and Russia.
Recall that earlier, President Zelensky announced a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, Russia and the US, which is to take place at the end of the week in the UAE.
The media suggested that during the meeting between Ukraine, Russia and the US in Abu Dhabi, the American side intends to propose a so-called «energy truce».
Later, Volodymyr Zelensky shared the first details of the trilateral meeting: he stressed that in order to achieve a truce, Russia must ultimately «develop» a desire to end the war.
