Zelenskyy declares readiness to sign security guarantee agreement with the United States

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a key document on security guarantees from the United States is ready for signing, and its final adoption depends on further procedures, including ratification.

He made this statement during a conversation with journalists on 23 January, according to Suspilne.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Davos, the parties discussed air defence and security guarantees for Ukraine. The president noted that the agreement itself is ready, but some technical details need to be clarified.

«They are indeed ready, and the agreement is ready for signing. Of course, there will be many different technical details, and additional documents will appear on the basis of this document. But the main agreement on security guarantees is in place,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

He clarified that further steps depend on the date set by the US president, as well as on the process of ratification of the document in the US Congress and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Separately, the president noted that the parties discussed other packages of documents, in particular the Prosperity Package, which currently need further refinement, as well as the issue of Donbas.

«The issue of Donbas is key. It will be discussed, in particular the modalities of how the three parties see these processes in Abu Dhabi today and tomorrow,» said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It should be noted that during his speech at the World Economic Forum, Volodymyr Zelenskyy sharply criticised Europe for the lack of real responsibility for Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the ineffectiveness of sanctions and the slowness in creating a special tribunal.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he was ready to commit to the United States' participation in the future defence of Ukraine. According to him, this is only possible if there is confidence that Russia will not try to start a war against Ukraine again.

Later it became known that during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the US and Ukraine plan to sign an agreement on the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine worth about $800 billion.
