«Not the time for the political games», Kim says there are no plans to introduce a city military administration in Mykolaiv

Photo: NikVestiThe head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, denied rumours that a military administration was being set up in the city. He stressed that the Mykolaiv city authorities are working constructively, and there are no grounds for such decisions now.
He said this in a comment to the NikVesti journalist during a briefing after a meeting of the Congress of Local Councils.
As you know, on 6 October, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticised the inefficiency of some local authorities in his evening address and warned that if the leaders failed to act, the central government would take appropriate decisions.
«Unfortunately, not everywhere there is an effective local government, and if local leaders are unwilling or unable to deal with critical issues on their own, there will be decisions made by the central government. There is not much time before winter,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
After that, speculation began to appear on telegram channels that the president was referring to Mykolaiv in particular. The channel «Card Office» signed the video message with the phrase: «Klychko. Trukhanov. Sienkevych. And all those who are close to them», hinting at possible personnel decisions regarding the mayors of large cities.

He noted that 43 deputies were present at the last session of the city council, and that is how it should be done in the future.
«As I said before, the issue of introducing a military administration in Mykolaiv is not being considered. However, I would like to remind the deputies that there is a war going on, and we need to work to end it, and now it is not the time for political games or blocking the session. As an example, last session there were 43 MPs, and this is the work I would like to see. I would like to see it continue to develop in this way. That's why we work together, it's not a question now,» said Vitalii Kim.
Previously, sessions of the Mykolaiv City Council were repeatedly postponed due to the lack of a quorum. On 3 September, a meeting to consider land issues and the budget was postponed after a conflict between Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych and deputy Tetiana Dombrovska, and on 4 September, the deputies approved some issues and voted on changes to the budget, but the session was postponed. On 11 September, the deputies of Mykolaiv City Council reconvened for the fourth plenary meeting of the session to consider land issues. However, due to insufficient votes, the meeting had to be postponed again. Vitalii Kim, a deputy and head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, called the session «a sham».
At the time, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych said he would seek a compromise for further dialogue with the deputy corps to «unblock» the work of the Mykolaiv City Council sessions.
