It was not necessary: Mykolaiv to donate ₴4 million worth of equipment to Chornomorsk

The Mykolaiv City Council plans to donate equipment worth UAH 4 million to Chornomorsk in Odesa region.

This is evidenced by a draft decision posted on the website of the Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.

We are talking about one piece of equipment: a synchronisation master for 4 modules of the Master Panel ST1 manufactured by Jenbacher, with a book value of 4 million 67 thousand hryvnias. Mykolaiv received the equipment as humanitarian aid from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), which requested that the city transfer it to Chornomorsk.

In a commentary to NikVesti, Mykola Lohvinov, director of Mykolaivoblteploenergo, which currently owns the equipment, explained that the equipment is needed to synchronise four cogeneration units. Mykolaiv never used it.

According to Lohvinov, Mykolaiv received the Master Panel at the end of last year. The utility company needed it to launch the cogeneration facility, but the equipment arrived late, so Mykolaivoblteploenergo found another technical solution to synchronise the units.

«This is a cogeneration unit synchronisation master, designed for 4 units. It was supposed to be handed over to us sometime in October last year, when we were building one facility there. But IOM was late, and they handed it over in December, when we had already launched these plants. We were waiting for this equipment, but it did not arrive on time. And in order to launch the facility, we found another technical solution. Therefore, it is no longer needed at the site where we planned it. It can be used on other projects, but we will implement these projects no earlier than in a year. Therefore, it would be in storage. And in Chornomorsk, it is needed. And IOM asked us to transfer it to the Chornomorsk community,» said Mykola Lohvinov.

Despite the approach of the heating season, not all buildings in Mykolaiv are ready for heating. According to Mykolaivoblteploenergo, as of 25 September, only 46 out of 1231 buildings had certificates of readiness, which is only 3.7% of the total.

Earlier it was reported that as of September, the state's debt to the utility «Mykolaivoblteploenergo» amounted to more than one billion hryvnias, which was to be paid to the company for the difference between the approved and economically justified tariff.

Mykolaivoblteploenergo will receive 15 cogeneration units with a total capacity of 27.5 MW as part of a World Bank project.
