In peace talks, Russia is demanding the transfer of about 6,000 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory that it does not yet control militarily.

This was stated by US Vice President J.D. Vance on the One America News Network.

According to him, the talks are currently focused on two key issues.

«One of them concerns territory. The Russians want to get about 6,000 square kilometres that they have not yet conquered by military force. That's what the Russians want. On the other hand, the Ukrainians want security guarantees — whether from Europe or from somebody else — because they want to be sure that if they do a deal, the Russians won't come back in a few months or years demanding more,» said Jay Vance.

He also said that incredible progress has been made, as the parties have identified these two main issues as the basis for further dialogue.

«The question is whether the Russians and Ukrainians will walk through the door of peace opened by US President Donald Trump», the Vice President added.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Putin had claimed in a conversation with American representatives that he would be able to seize Donbas within four months.
