Olena Kiseliova, a member of the city council and head of the commission for law and publicity, proposes to return to the deputies the right to draw up the budget of Mykolaiv, taking into account the needs of voters.

She addressed this proposal to Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych during an online meeting of the city council session on 28 August, according to NikVesti.

«Please provide clarification on how the deputies' proposals will be taken into account and whether there is a goal to take them into account in the 2026 budget. Perhaps we need to return to the practice when MPs had a real right to sign the budget and have their wishes taken into account. Because now we have this express train constantly flying forward. We see that in some places, work is being done very actively and dynamically, and in others, something has gone quiet. That is why I am asking for a return to the practice of parliamentary equality, so that the proposals of all MPs are taken into account when considering the budget, so that we do not return to negative discussions. Either no one gets anything — all for the main goals, or somehow fairly take into account the wishes and suggestions,» said Olena Kiseliova.

As a reminder, 16.2 million hryvnias will be spent from the city budget on a new pedestrian sidewalk along Heroiv Ukrayiny Avenue in Mykolaiv. In a commentary to NikVesti, city council member Fedir Panchenko explained that residents of the Soliany neighbourhood had sent a relevant appeal to him and the mayor.
