President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Moscow does not plan to end the war against Ukraine, but rather uses ultimatums to postpone its end.

He said this during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

According to him, Moscow has no right to demand guarantees, because it was Moscow that unleashed aggression against Ukraine.

«They attacked us... And I don't quite understand what guarantees the aggressor needs,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President stressed that Russia was not going to end the war, but was trying to prolong it with ultimatums.

«I believe this: a week ago, or two weeks ago, it doesn't matter — Russia was where it is and has been. It doesn't want to end the war, and it didn't want to end the war, and it doesn't want to end the war now. It wants to put forward ultimatums, to postpone the possibility of ending this war through ultimatums,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy also believes that the Kremlin is seeking to avoid harsh sanctions from the United States and reduce Washington's political pressure.

Earlier, Moscow said that, in the opinion of the Russian side, Russia itself should provide security guarantees for Ukraine.

As a reminder, Turkey has declared its readiness to join the system of security guarantees for Ukraine, taking responsibility for maritime security.
