President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that he is already in the United States, where he will meet with US President Donald Trump.

He thanked for the invitation and stressed that the main goal of Ukraine and its partners is to end the war as soon as possible, but the peace must be strong and lasting.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy reminded of previous mistakes when Ukraine was forced to give up Crimea and part of Donbas, and that the security guarantees of 1994 did not protect the state.

«We all equally want to end this war quickly and reliably. And the peace must be long-lasting. Not like years ago, when Ukraine was forced to give up Crimea and Donbas, and Putin used it as a springboard for a new attack», the Head of State said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that it was not necessary to give up Crimea then, just as after 2022, Ukrainians did not give up Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv.

«Russia must end this war, which it started,» he stressed.

On the evening of Friday, 15 August, US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin met in Anchorage, Alaska.

During the meeting, the US and Russian presidents did not reach an agreement on a truce in Ukraine, but, according to Donald Trump, progress can be made in this direction. It is possible that the next summit could take place soon and President Zelenskyy could join it.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is planning to visit Washington to discuss with US President Donald Trump the details of ending the war and further steps to ensure Ukraine's security.
