President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has announced that she will travel to Washington, D.C., to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump together with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
She made the announcement on the social network X.
According to her, on 17 August in the afternoon, she will meet with Zelenskyy in Brussels, where they will take part in a video conference «of the Coalition of the Willing».
«At President Zelenskyy's request, I will join tomorrow's meeting with President Trump and other European leaders at the White House», von der Leyen said.
As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to visit Washington to discuss with US President Donald Trump the details of ending the war and further steps to ensure Ukraine's security.
On the evening of Friday, 15 August, US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin met in Anchorage, Alaska.
During the meeting, the US and Russian presidents did not reach an agreement on a truce in Ukraine, but, according to Donald Trump, progress can be made in this direction. It is possible that the next summit could take place soon and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could join it.
