The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, has come up with an initiative to introduce mandatory income declaration for journalists working for Ukrainian media.
He said this on 31 July during a briefing with the head of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Viktor Pavlushchyk, reports PN.
According to Sienkiewicz, he voiced this idea in a conversation with the head of the NAPC, but received a response that this issue was not within the agency's authority.
- "I expressed my opinion in the course of communication that all journalists working in Ukraine in official publications (officially registered by the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting - ed.) should also declare for themselves, that is, all of you. So that we can all understand who pays the salaries of journalists who sometimes write nonsense," said Oleksandr Senkevych.
At the same time, it is worth recalling that according to the Law of Ukraine «On Media», all official media outlets are required to undergo state registration with open access to information about their owners. In addition, the media themselves must publish this information on their platforms. Thus, it is possible to find out who owns a particular officially registered media outlet.
As a reminder, Oleksandr Senkevych received a salary of UAH 946,000 in 2024, which is more than UAH 150,000 less than the salary of the director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks».
