The Kremlin has said that a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is necessary, but there are no specifics about it yet.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted by Russian media as saying this.
He believes that such a meeting requires careful preparation and the continuation of contacts between Moscow and Washington, which, according to him, are already underway.
Regarding a possible meeting during Donald Trump's upcoming trip to the Middle East (13-16 May), Dmitry Peskov noted that Vladimir Putin has no trips planned for these dates.
Donald Trump himself has previously stated that he has not yet decided whether he will meet with Vladimir Putin in Saudi Arabia and that «needs to think about it».
We would like to remind you that on Monday, 5 May, Julie Davis, the US Chargé d'Affaires, arrived in Ukraine.
It is worth noting that EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius said that the European Union could significantly increase its support for Ukraine by purchasing weapons directly from domestic producers.
According to him, if Trump fails to convince Putin to make peace, the EU could put forward more convincing arguments in favour of peace very quickly.
