A deputy of the Mykolaiv City Council from the party «Propozytsiia», Fedir Panchenko, handed over a batch of drones to the military on camera, which were purchased with money from the Mykolaiv budget.
The story was filmed by the municipal TV channel «MART». In it, journalists showed a deputy of the mayor's party handing over drones to the Ochakiv Defence Forces.
«Today, we are handing over another batch of drones to our military personnel defending the city of Ochakiv. These drones were made by Mykolaiv residents at the expense of Mykolaiv residents. So they are made with a special love for you and a special hatred for the Russians. We hope that each of these drones will reach their destination. Glory to Ukraine!», said Fedir Panchenko during the presentation of the drones.
Money for defence
In 2023, Mykolaiv allocated about 740 million hryvnias for the needs of the Defence Forces. For comparison, this is almost as much as the budgets of frontline Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia combined.
At the same time, in the same year, the city budget allocated 400 million hryvnias for the military, half of which was used to purchase housing for servicemen serving in the Mykolaiv garrison.
Earlier, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych also published a schedule of the city council's funding for the military. The city purchased and delivered 17 new vehicles for the Armed Forces, and 89 more units were transferred to the units from utility companies.
In 2023, the Planning and Budget Commission of the Mykolaiv City Council also approved the allocation of 9.6 million hryvnias in subventions for the purchase of 415 drones of various modifications, as well as communications equipment and night vision devices for the military.
Already in March 2024, 57.6 million hryvnias was allocated from the Mykolaiv budget to support the Territorial and the Security and Defence Forces. In April, the city council members amended the city budget and allocated about 107 million hryvnias for defence.
In September 2024, the city council donated more than 7 million hryvnias worth of material assistance to the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
