Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has said that Ukraine is working to create its own strategic air defence system.

He said this during a speech at a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

Andrii Sybiha invited European partners to join the project by investing in Ukrainian air defence to speed up its development. He also called on allies to continue their support, including by providing new systems, missiles, and spare parts.

During his speech, the minister also mentioned the recent Russian strikes on Sumy and Kryvyi Rih, emphasising the threat posed by Russian aggression to the whole of Europe.

«Putin will move further into Europe and closer to your homes if he is not stopped in Ukraine. This is the reality. And we don't want your countries to see cluster ballistic missiles strike residential neighbourhoods or children's playgrounds one day. That is why it is necessary to act now to achieve peace, to strengthen Ukraine and increase pressure on Moscow», said Andrii Sybiha.

According to hromadske, back in February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine was developing an analogue of the Patriot. Prior to that, he stated that the country did not have air defence missiles for Patriot.
