Russian envoy Dmitriev meets with Trump's representative in Washington

Donald Trump's special representative, Steve Witkoff, met with Russian investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev in the US capital. This is the first official visit of a senior Russian official to the United States since the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine.

According to Reuters, Donald Trump's administration continues to put pressure on Moscow and Kyiv to convince them to end the fighting. This was emphasised by two US officials familiar with the situation.

Kirill Dmitriev, who has experience working at Goldman Sachs and is a Stanford graduate, is considered one of the most influential representatives of Russian elites in the United States. He maintains close contacts with some of the key members of Donald Trump's team, according to Reuters.

In his social media posts, Kirill Dmitriev himself noted that dialogue between Russia and the United States, in his opinion, is important for global prosperity.

Earlier, Kirill Dmitriev said that the US was interested in a possible deal on Russian rare earth minerals.

According to him, the talks between the US and Russia, which took place in two rounds, concern not only political issues, including the war in Ukraine, but also economic cooperation. The next meeting may take place in mid-April in Riyadh.
