«Today's conversation included a proposal from the American side to take the first step immediately and try to establish a complete ceasefire for 30 days, not only with regard to missiles, drones and bombs, not only in the Black Sea, but also along the entire front line. Ukraine accepts this proposal. [...] That is, we agree, and if Russians agree, at that moment the silence will work», Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
In turn, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also commented on the results of the meeting in Jeddah.
«Ukraine has taken a positive step, and we hope that the Russians will reciprocate. Now the ball is in Russia's court», said Marco Rubio.
He also added that «the best manifestation of «Russia's goodwill» would be an agreement to start negotiations to end the conflict».
In turn, the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, said that the US and Ukraine had agreed to form their negotiating teams and immediately begin negotiations.
To recap, the Ukrainian delegation met with US representatives in Saudi Arabia today. After the meeting, the head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, said that Ukraine had expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal for a temporary ceasefire for 30 days.
Earlier, during a speech to Congress, US President Donald Trump said he had received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to Donald Trump, the letter states that Ukraine «is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring a lasting peace», as well as to sign an agreement on minerals.
