Ambassador to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi did not directly answer whether he would run for president of Ukraine, but he said he would think about it.

He said this during the NV event «Ukraine is changing the world. Dialogues about opportunities».

Valerii Zaluzhnyi answered the question whether he would run for the presidency of Ukraine.

«When these conditions come, then I, as a person who is in public service, will answer such questions. For now, we have only one task — to survive and preserve our country. And after that, we will think about other things», he said.

As a reminder, in February 2024, Valerii Zaluzhnyi was dismissed from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Commander-in-Chief, thanked him for two years of defending Ukraine and offered «to continue to be part of the team of the Ukrainian state».

Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi was appointed as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Later, Valerii Zaluzhnyi was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
