British Defence Secretary John Healey commented on US President Donald Trump's calls to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He is convinced that negotiations cannot take place without Ukraine.

The Guardian writes about this.

«My message is that there can be no negotiations on Ukraine without Ukraine. The voice of Ukraine must be at the centre of any negotiations», he said.

According to him, everyone wants to see a lasting peace and not return to conflict and aggression. At the same time, he urged not to forget that Russia remains a threat far beyond Ukraine.

«They (Ukrainians, — note) are the frontline of freedom, and our job is to put Ukraine in the strongest position for any conversation», said John Healey.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump avoided a direct answer to the question of whether he considers Ukraine an equal participant in peace negotiations. At the same time, Donald Trump denied the possibility that Volodymyr Zelenskyy's participation in the talks could be frozen.

As a reminder, on 12 February, US President Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In particular, they discussed Ukraine and the Middle East, and agreed that the war must be stopped. Later, Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It should be noted that the United States of America is engaged in constructive negotiations on a full-scale war with Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
