880 thousand military in Ukrainian army, — Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is 880,000. At the same time, the number of Russian troops in Ukraine is about 600,000.

The head of state said this on Wednesday, 15 January, at a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw.

«There are currently 600,000 representatives of the Russian contingent on the territory of our country. As for the Ukrainian army, it currently numbers 880,000. But 880,000 defend the entire territory. Russian troops are concentrated in several areas, so they have a numerical advantage in some areas,» he said.

In addition, the President noted that Ukraine supports the idea of attracting a foreign contingent. At the same time, he stressed that it is necessary to clearly understand the format and prospects for the development of the Ukrainian army.

«And when the war is over, we must understand what the contingent of other countries is. We support this idea and we must understand how much it is», the head of state said.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the participants of the «Ramstein» to consider the deployment of a foreign contingent in Ukraine.
