On Sunday, October 1, the city of Mykolaiv celebrated the Day of Defenders of Ukraine with solemn events on Cathedral Square.

Three flags were unfurled on Cathedral Square - the state flag and the flags of Mykolaiv and the region.
During the celebrations, there was a moment of silence, during which the memory of those who gave their lives for the independence of Ukraine was honored. After that, the blue-yellow flag was solemnly raised to the sound of the National Anthem of Ukraine.
The representatives of the authorities expressed their gratitude to all those present for their tireless work and dedication to the defense of the country.
There was also a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial «Struna Pamiati».
