In Snihurivka, there are plans to renovate part of the premises at Lyceum №3. Almost 3.1 million hryvnias are earmarked for the refurbishment of classrooms, stairwells and emergency exits.

This is according to data from the Prozorro public procurement system, as reported by NikVesti.

The contracting authority for both procurements is the Centre for Financial and Administrative Services for Educational Establishments and Institutions of the Snihurivka City Council.

A total of 1,498,691 hryvnias is earmarked for the renovation of stairwells and emergency exits. The work is due to be completed by 25 September 2026.

According to the technical specifications, the lyceum’s walls, ceilings and stairwell walls are to be repaired, the stairs and metal handrails painted, replace some of the lighting, and refurbish four emergency exits — specifically, to repair the brickwork, plaster and paint the walls.

A further 1 million 600 thousand hryvnias has been earmarked for the refurbishment of classrooms. The contractor is required to complete the work by 30 September 2026.

In the classrooms, the plan is to renew the flooring, install suspended ceilings, replace light fittings, sockets and some of the electrical wiring, and fit new doors.

Tender bids are currently being accepted for both procurement procedures. Once the tenders have concluded, the client will select the contractors to carry out the work.

It is worth noting that until 2022, there were four schools operating in Snihurivka. Today, some of the buildings have been damaged by shelling, whilst others have simply fallen into disuse due to a decline in the number of children. The biggest problem is the main school, which suffered serious damage following a Russian missile strike.

The community currently has two schools: the central school and Lyceum №3. Construction of a shelter at Lyceum №3 is nearing completion, after which the children will be able to return to face-to-face learning. Plans are in place to rebuild the central school with support from the Danish government.

«We have an agreement that the school will reopen on 1 January 2028. It will be a modern school with good shelter facilities,» says Ivan Kukhta.

For the time being, some of the children are studying online or in a blended learning format.
