In Mykolaiv, work will continue on developing sports grounds in various parts of the city. A new sports area is planned for this year in the Zavodskyi district, and another one next year in the Korabelnyi district.

This was announced by Dmytro Chuchmai, director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks», during a live broadcast on social media on 9 June.

According to him, the city is continuing to implement projects to create open-air sports areas for residents. The impetus for this came from the experience of developing such facilities in previous years.

He also recalled that the first such sports ground under this programme was opened in November 2024 on Flotskyi Boulevard. Following this, in March 2026, another sports ground was opened in the Inhulskyi district in the square between Hennadii Motoliak Street and Sculptor Izmalkov Street.

«Today, it is a vibrant location where not only residents of the Inhulskyi district but also residents of other districts of the city and visitors to Mykolaiv come to relax,» noted Dmytro Chuchmai.

As a reminder, in 2025, a sports ground was built in the Inhulskyi district in the square between Hennadii Motoliak Street and Sculptor Izmalkov Street. Ten exercise machines were installed there, including three inclusive ones, and the area was fitted with rubber surfacing, lighting, decorative lighting, a table tennis table and rest areas.

We would also like to remind you that a sports ground in the park on Flotskyi Boulevard near the Chess Club in Mykolaiv was built in 2024.

The project was implemented by the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks», and, according to the estimate, it was expected to cost the city budget 6.8 million hryvnias. According to the director of the municipal enterprise, Dmytro Chuchmai, the use of the enterprise’s own resources allowed for savings of 2.3 million hryvnias. The municipal enterprise reported that the total amount spent on the construction of the sports ground was 4,620,720.2 hryvnias. The remaining funds, namely 2,208,916.8 hryvnias, will not be spent.

In 2023, two trees were felled on Flotskyi Boulevard. At the time, the environmental inspectorate reported a violation. Later, the police opened criminal proceedings against the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» for unauthorised construction on Flotskyi Boulevard. All the equipment was seized and towed to an impound yard.

Subsequently, the State Environmental Inspectorate of the South-Western Region reported that the amount of environmental damage caused by the construction work on Flotskyi Boulevard amounted to over 2 million hryvnias. Inna Kryvko, head of the State Environmental Supervision Department of the Nature Reserve Fund, stated that the case has not yet been closed, and a pre-trial investigation into the damage caused during the works is currently underway.

Dmytro Chuchmai, head of the municipal enterprise, stated that the construction work on Flotskyi Boulevard did not require a project. He also explained that it had been started «so that our soldiers could undergo rehabilitation there free of charge».
