The reintegration centre for the homeless in Mykolaiv has a capacity of 50 places. There are currently 36 people staying there. Homeless people in need of care are also being accommodated on the premises of a charitable foundation in Velyka Korenykha, with which the city has signed an agreement worth almost 4 million hryvnias.
This was reported during a live broadcast by Serhii Vasylenko, director of the Department of Labour and Social Protection of the Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.
Serhii Vasylenko noted that there are currently 36 people at the homeless reintegration centre. There are fewer in the summer than in the winter. Overall, it has a capacity of 50 places.
«I would like to say that it was working actively during the winter. We set up both warming centres and hot meal distribution points. There were no major disruptions to its operations. Of course, 50 people is not a large number either. Given that the area is so vast. For example, before the war, there was no such centre for the reintegration of homeless people in Kherson. That is why everyone comes here, but they do provide their own services,» said Serhii Vasylenko.
As the director of the social protection department noted, the city is also working with the charity «Mykolaiv Centre for Social Rehabilitation «Vidnovlennia»», with whom an agreement was signed following a tender.
«The «Vidnovlennia» Charitable Foundation, located in Velyka Korenykha, also houses people in need of care. We pay for this service. A tender was held, and the foundation won. Moreover, the city pays a small amount from local funds per person — 182 hryvnias — because these people’s meals are funded by the ‘Vidnovlennia’ charity foundation itself,» said Serhii Vasylenko.
He also noted that there are 71 people — men and women — in Velyka Korenykha.
A contract with the charitable organisation «Mykolaiv Centre for Social Rehabilitation «Vidnovlennia»» has been published on the «Prozorro» public procurement system. In December 2025, the Department of Labour and Social Protection held a tender with an estimated cost of 4.13 million hryvnias.
The Department of Social Protection ordered 22,590 support services for the homeless. The price of one service is 182.87 hryvnias.
Under the terms of the contract, the charity must provide, in particular, accommodation for people, counselling, assistance in liaising with other services, rooms to stay in, basic clothing and footwear, and sanitation. The charity’s premises must have a ramp, beds for people with disabilities, a shower, a toilet, and facilities for people in wheelchairs to move around.
Supported accommodation services for homeless people must be provided for no more than 6 months. Accommodation may be extended in exceptional cases.
As a reminder, residents of Mykolaiv who were injured in the city during the war, have lost relatives, or require funds for medical treatment, may submit documents to receive financial assistance from the city budget. In the first four months of 2026, the city provided 794,000 hryvnias to Mykolaiv residents.
