The Yunist Stadium is the oldest stadium in Mykolaiv. It has not been renovated for years, so the benches, paths, main pitch and artificial turf pitches are currently in poor condition.

NikVesti reports on whether any work is planned for the stadium this year and what it looks like at present.

The Yunist Stadium is located at 15 Pohranychna Street. It is managed by the Central City Stadium Municipal Enterprise. As far back as 2019, there was talk of preparing project documentation for the stadium’s reconstruction.

As early as March 2021, the executive committee was told that approximately 85 million hryvnias would be required to renovate the administrative and amenity buildings and the sports ground at «Yunist». And in July, members of the executive committee agreed to allow the Capital Construction Department to reallocate 276,000 hryvnias, originally earmarked for the repair of the heating system at the «Nadiia» sports complex, towards the preparation of the project for the reconstruction of the «Yunist» stadium. But the plans did not materialise.

Today, people run on tracks full of potholes at the stadium. The benches in the stands are broken. In one section, the wooden planks are completely missing.

In early April 2026, Viacheslav Misarenko, director of the Central City Stadium, held a live broadcast. He noted that there is no funding for the pitch at the Yunist Stadium.

«The «Yunist» Stadium on Pohranychna Street is the oldest in the city. Unfortunately, we do not yet have the means to install a large artificial or natural pitch. It costs a fortune. However, we began tidying it up last year and are continuing the restoration work this year as well,» said Viacheslav Misarenko.

In response to an enquiry, it was reported that last year at the Yunist Stadium, preventive work was carried out to clear the pitch of weeds, level the surface, and maintain the facilities and equipment in good condition.

Also, during a broadcast in April, Viacheslav Misarenko announced that they had purchased artificial turf for the «Yunist» mini-football pitch.

«We have purchased new artificial turf for the mini-football pitch. We will lay it in April once we have prepared the base and drainage system underneath. We hope to give this pitch a new lease of life,» said the director of the Central City Stadium.

This was also mentioned in the response to the enquiry, but without any specific dates.

«At the «Yunist» stadium, in 2026, we plan to prepare the surface and drainage for the installation of new artificial turf for the football pitch,» the response states.

It should be noted that the running tracks at the Central City Stadium are also in poor condition. Simply resurfacing them is not enough. However, there is currently no funding available for this.
