In Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region, the family sheltered the cat and treated it. Later, the animal bit the couple. It turned out that the cat had rabies.

This was reported in the Ochakiv City Council.

They noted that the rabies situation in Ochakiv is extremely tense and dangerous. In particular, a case of rabies among animals was registered this month. A sick cat came to the family, which they were treating. A week later, the cat showed signs of aggression. A cat bit a man and a woman. They are currently being treated in a city hospital. And the animal, as a result of a laboratory test, was found to have the rabies virus.

«Taking into account the introduction of martial law on the territory of Ukraine, combat operations on the territory of the Mykolaiv region during 2022-2023 and January-February 2024, restrictions on hunting and regulation of hunting issues have been established. The entire territory of the Mykolaiv region is dangerous for rabies, as predatory animals are able to move over considerable distances in a short period of time, the number of homeless (feral) domestic animals is increasing,» the city council said.

We will remind you that at the beginning of February in Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv Oblast, an unfavorable situation was declared due to an outbreak of rabies in animals and quarantine restrictions were introduced.
