A video featuring the man, who is currently receiving treatment in hospital, was published by the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
According to the victim, that morning he and his wife were laying out vegetables for sale when a drone suddenly appeared over the market.
«I’d only just put up the umbrella and started taking out the crates. My wife was there too. We couldn’t see it at first; it flew out from somewhere behind the market, from the bushes, and was flying very low. My wife started running away, and it began to turn round. I gestured to it: «Look, the vegetables.» It started heading straight for me. I started running away. It crashed into a car, and I just fell to the ground,» the man said.
The man said he hadn’t filmed the drone on his phone and hadn’t provoked the attack in any way.
«I wasn’t filming it, nothing. I even pointed it out to him: «Look, vegetables.» It was descending towards the umbrella as I was running away; it could see — there were tomatoes, cucumbers and some aubergines there,» he said.
According to the victim, this is the second Russian attack his family has endured.
«My back is completely torn to shreds. This is the second time. The first time I was on my way to my mother-in-law’s; we managed to escape, and we somehow repaired the car because we’ve got nothing else to drive in,» he added.
The hospital where the man is being treated reported that he had sustained multiple shrapnel wounds to his torso and both upper limbs, as well as concussion.
«Fortunately, none of the wounds are penetrating, and his life is not currently in danger. The treatment and recovery process is ongoing,» said a medical professional.
As a reminder, footage of the attack was released by the Kherson regional police. At the time, the man was at a market in Kherson when Russian military personnel attacked him with an FPV drone.
