Deputy Chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional Council Denys Andrieiev commented on reports of injuries during hunting spread on social media. According to him, there was no gunshot wound, and he was injured in an accident.

He described the details of the incident on his Facebook page.

The official confirmed that on 20 December, on a day off, he went hunting with friends in the Voznesensk district. Denys Andrieiev did not specify with whom, but stressed that neither Anton Tabunschyk, nor Heorhii Reshetilov, Ihor Shcherbyna or Vitalii Danyla were with him.

«On 20 December, on my day off, I was actually hunting with my friends in the Voznesensk district (I have a hobby, what can I do). Of course, there were no big names of famous personalities from our region there, as my «fans» wanted so badly, and there was no «sea of vodka»,» Denys Andrieiev wrote.

While the company was waiting for the ranger to complete the necessary documents, Andrieiev, as he notes, decided to explore the area near the pond with the dam. Due to the wet surface, he slipped and fell from the dam onto the remains of reinforced concrete structures, where he pierced his thigh.

He was given first aid by his friends and taken to hospital, where his wound was treated, examined and transferred to an inpatient unit. The next day he went home.

«I called my friends for help, who provided me with first aid (thank God, we all know how to do it) and took me to the hospital. There, they treated my wound, provided me with a range of medical services, took tests (probably to make sure I was sober) and transferred me to an inpatient unit. The next day, given my positive condition, I asked the doctor to leave the hospital, as it was my birthday and my family was waiting for me at home. That was all. No sensations. I know it's bland, not hype, but what can you do,» he added.

He called the other details disseminated by telegram channels «an attempt to hype».

«I also have a big request to my haters: stop spending thousands of dollars on paid-for articles and fakes paid for by talking red heads. Spend the money on the Armed Forces or children,» Andrieiev replied.

At the same time, it should be noted that in his post, Denys Andrieiev does not say whether he has already given evidence to investigators of the Main Police Department in Mykolaiv region and with whom he actually went hunting.

In addition, the post completely ignores the context that caused the increased attention to the incident: a few days before the incident, the regional council had decided to grant permits for the use of hunting grounds, in particular in the Voznesensk district. Andrieiev does not explain whether he sees this as a potential conflict of interest or even a reputational risk.

As you know, on 22 December, it became known that the police were checking information about a possible gunshot wound to a man during a hunt that could have happened over the weekend in the Voznesensk district of Mykolaiv region.

The basis for the investigation was a post on the Telegram channel of former regional council member Svitlana Fedorova. She claimed that the day before, a group of officials had allegedly gone hunting for game in the Voznesensk district of Mykolaiv region. As a result of careless handling of weapons, the deputy chairman of the Mykolaiv regional council, Denys Andreev, was injured, who was celebrating his birthday the next day, on 21 December.

On 22 December, Svitlana Fedorova came to the building of the Mykolaiv Regional Council to find Denys Andrieiev at his workplace. However, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, Anton Tabunschyk, said that his deputy, Denys Andrieiev, was not in touch with him.

Earlier, in a commentary to NikVesti, the police said that as of 22 December, there was no confirmation that Denys Andrieiev, a deputy and deputy head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, had been injured during a hunting trip in Voznesensk district.

A few days earlier, on 18 December, the Mykolaiv Regional Council held its last plenary meeting of the year, where it granted permission to use hunting grounds to 4 companies. The land was granted to the private companies for 25 years (until December 2050) for the purpose of «breeding game, creating pheasant enclosures» and developing recreational facilities and services.
