In two days, the utility company «Mykolaivoblteploenergo» has purchased 24 tonnes of diesel fuel for generators that support the city's critical infrastructure during power outages.

This was announced by Mykola Lohvinov, director of the utility company «Mykolaivoblteploenergo», in a comment to NikVesti.

According to him, about 15 tonnes of diesel are consumed per day, but the exact amount has not yet been calculated.

«We bought 24 tonnes of diesel yesterday and today. Not all generators run on diesel, there are also petrol ones. Our generators have been fuelled, partially topped up, and there is still some left over. We spend about 15 tonnes every day, but we have not yet calculated the exact amount. Firstly, we have the technical passports of the generators, and secondly, we specially ordered fuel consumption rates and calculated them, but life makes its own adjustments, depending on the generator's load and the time it is running. We bought 24 tonnes to have a reserve, and I will know how much we have spent tomorrow when we check the balances. Each generator needs time to be checked. Winter has just begun, and we need to automate the processes,» said Lohvinov.

In addition, Mykola Lohvinov said that despite «a large team, there are still not enough people», as each generator must be monitored during start-up and operation.

«We have a large team today, but we still lack people. This is the first story. The second story is that most attention is paid to boiler houses and facilities with a large population, where the social sector is located — hospitals and so on. Each generator must be controlled by a person during start-up and operation. It is easy to destroy the equipment. That night the situation was unstable, people were working around the clock. There are some boiler houses that had problems with their electronics when switching to a generator and had to be repaired. It's easy to burn the equipment, but no one will tell you where to get new equipment later,» added Mykola Lohvinov.

Electricity and water supply are being gradually restored in Mykolaiv

As of now, Mykolaiv is receiving power in turns, and critical infrastructure such as hospitals, boiler houses and water pumping stations are operating without interruptions.

According to the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, heating in the city is stable, but in 26 buildings it is temporarily out of order due to a power outage. «Mykolaivoblteploenergo» is working with residents to connect generators to solve the problem.

The resilience centres, which have been visited by more than 2,700 people since their opening, will temporarily close at 3pm. In the event of a new blackout, they will resume their work.

The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, said that the water supply had also been restored.
