On the night of 13 December, Russian troops launched massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. More than a million customers are currently without electricity.

This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.

According to him, Russia sent missiles and drones to five regions: Dnipro, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa and Chernihiv regions. At least five people were injured, no one was killed.

As of today, rescuers have extinguished 14 fires and are still extinguishing two more. The most difficult situation with electricity supply remains in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.

«The algorithms approved the day before for responding to emergencies caused by attacks on fuel and energy facilities are already allowing us to act more quickly: optimise the deployment of forces, speed up firefighting and minimise the consequences of the attack. Everyone — from those working at the sites of the attacks to the leadership of agencies and units — knows what to do. Unfortunately, due to the threat of repeated attacks in some regions, rescuers were forced to temporarily suspend firefighting. To ensure the safety of the personnel, we use remote extinguishing — robotic equipment and foam generators», said Ihor Klymenko.

As a reminder, at night and in the early hours of 13 December, Russian troops attacked critical and industrial infrastructure in Mykolaiv and the region. As a result of the shelling, settlements in Bashtanka and Mykolaiv districts were left without electricity supply. Restoration works are currently underway.

Five people were injured in the shelling in the city. Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych added that it was one of the most massive attacks on Mykolaiv and the region in recent times.

Odesa region also came under one of the most massive air attacks. Russian troops struck at energy and industrial infrastructure, causing power outages in some areas of the region.

In addition, part of the Kherson region, including the city of Kherson, was cut off from electricity due to massive Russian strikes.
