Shahed drone fell on the roof of a 9-storey building in Mykolaiv but did not detonate: residents evacuated

During the morning attack by Shaheds on 1 December, the roof of a 9-storey building caught fire in Mykolaiv. The fire was quickly extinguished.

According to the correspondent of NikVesti, explosive experts were working at the scene, as the drone fragment did not detonate, and they are trying to safely disarm it.

Some of the residents came out on their own, but there are people with limited mobility who had to be taken out carefully by rescuers, including bedridden old ladies.

A police spokesman said that information on the type of UAV is being clarified. According to preliminary reports, there were no injuries.

The evacuation was carried out by Red Cross rescue teams.

«We were informed about the threat to the building and the need to evacuate. We arrived and took people to a safe place. Four residents with limited mobility were evacuated. In total, residents of three houses were evacuated. There is no threat to people now,» said Pavlo Buznyk, commander of the rapid response team.

A resident of the house said that in the morning he heard a strong impact: «something flew directly into the house». According to him, he heard another one a few seconds later, and then it started falling from above.

«In the morning, I heard a bang — something flew into the house. Then there was a second one. It started falling right away, I heard screams outside: «Come out, come out!». When I looked out the window, it seemed like an apartment in the house opposite was on fire — probably a glare. In fact, the drone hit the lift box and did not explode. Debris fell down, but the fire quickly went out. According to the time in the chat, the first drone flew at 7:07, the second at 7:14. The feeling was very disturbing, it seemed that everything was flying right into our house,» a resident of the house told NikVesti.

According to representatives of the services, the warhead was seized and will be sent for forensic examination to determine the exact type of weapon.

As a reminder, on Sunday, 30 November, Mykolaiv was attacked by drones. The first explosion occurred at around 11:04 am. Later, more explosions were heard in the city. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned about the danger of UAVs. After that, the head of the Mykolaiv RMA reported damaged trucks and a fire in a warehouse.
