The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, said that despite the fact that Mykolaiv region produces ten times more electricity than it consumes, residents of the region will still be left without electricity according to the blackout schedules, as well as throughout Ukraine.

He said this on the air of the telethon «Yedyni Novyny».

As you know, there are six blackout schedules in the region, each of which is divided into two more sub-schedules. Residents of some areas are left without electricity for up to 12-14 hours a day.

According to Vitalii Kim, Mykolaiv region produces about 4 gigawatts of electricity, while during the restrictions it consumes only 300 megawatts.

«We are part of a single energy system. And despite the fact that Mykolaiv region produces 4 gigawatts of electricity, and during the restrictions we use only 300 megawatts, which is more than 10 times what we give away, the restrictions still apply to Mykolaiv region. [...] So we have the same situation as the rest of the country, and we live with it,» added Vitalii Kim.

Vitalii Kim added that thanks to the support of international partners, Mykolaiv region has more than 3,200 generators.

«As for the backup power supply, thanks to foreign partners, we already have more than 3,200 generators. This has been a cumulative effect since 2022, but I believe that difficult times and challenges are still ahead,» summed up Vitalii Kim.

Power outage in Mykolaiv region: what is known

On the night of 8 November, Russia launched a combined attack on Ukraine. Enemy drones and missiles were aimed, in particular, at energy infrastructure facilities. Ukraine's Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk said that the attack was one of the largest since the beginning of the full-scale war.

Already on 9 November, «Mykolaivoblenergo» published a forecast of the outage schedule: in different phases, power supply would be cut off for 8.5 to 12 hours a day.

On 10 November, residents of the region and the city were left without electricity for an average of about 12 hours. On 11 and 12 November, the outages also lasted for 8-14 hours a day, depending on the queue of consumers.
