In Mykolaiv, in the Soliani neighbourhood, it is planned to build 150 social housing apartments by 2028 with the support of the Danish GAU Fonden Foundation.
This was announced during a briefing on Thursday, 6 November, by Ihor Nabatov, deputy director of the Mykolaiv Housing and Communal Services Department, NikVesti reports.
As you know, the city is currently preparing to sign an agreement with the Danish GAU Fonden Foundation on the construction of social housing.
«Social housing will be built for low-income families and internally displaced persons. The procedure for selecting families should be regulated in the project agreement. But there have been no annexes to it so far — this is one of our questions so that we understand how it will happen,» said Ihor Nabatov.
According to him, the design is planned to begin in early 2026, and the construction is expected to be completed by mid-2028.
«This schedule is still subject to change. GAU Fonden operates in two cities of Ukraine — Chernihiv and Mykolaiv. In Chernihiv, they started a little earlier, and based on their experience there, they are adjusting the timing and approach here to avoid possible problems,» explained Ihor Nabatov.
What do you know about GAUFonden?
GAU Fonden has already installed four modular houses for internally displaced people in Domanivka.
According to Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, a total of 25 such houses are planned to be built in the region by the end of 2026. The next step will be to create a town of 50 modular houses in Pervomaisk.
In addition, the idea of using such structures to equip administrative service centres and outpatient clinics is being considered.
As a reminder, Denmark will allocate around 224 million euros to rebuild Mykolaiv region as part of a new support programme for Ukraine. The main focus will be on rebuilding the region's infrastructure and strengthening the resilience of Mykolaiv.
Over the previous three years, Denmark has already provided around 213 million euros in aid to the city and region. The main focus was on the most urgent needs — the restoration of critical infrastructure.
