Consequences of the shelling of Odesa region on 20 August. Photo: SESOn the night of 20 August, Russian troops attacked a gas distribution station in the Izmail district of Odesa region with kamikaze drones.
This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
«There was also a vicious attack on a gas distribution station in Odesa region. There were also attacks in Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Poltava regions. In total, more than 60 drones and a ballistic missile were used. All of these are demonstrative strikes that only confirm the need to put pressure on Moscow, the need to impose new sanctions and duties until diplomacy is fully operational», Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.
As a reminder, the shelling of the Izmail district of Odesa region damaged the port and fuel and energy infrastructure, as well as production facilities.
Large-scale fires broke out at the sites of the attacks. Fifty-four rescuers, 16 units of equipment, a fire train and a local fire brigade were deployed to extinguish them.
