Rescuers in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv have recovered the bodies of five people from the rubble of a residential building destroyed by a Russian missile strike. The final number of victims is currently being determined as identification is ongoing.

This was reported by the head of the KСMA Tymur Tkachenko and the spokesperson for the State Emergency Service Svitlana Vodolaha in a commentary to «Ukrainska Pravda».

«I am at the scene of the attack in Solomenskyi district. The rescue operation continues here. So far, the bodies of two dead Kyiv residents have been removed from the rubble. The search is ongoing, there may still be people under the rubble,» said Tymur Tkachenko.

At the same time, he did not specify whether the five dead were the total number of victims or new bodies found in addition to those already reported.

In a comment to «Ukrainska Pravda», Svitlana Vodolaha, a spokeswoman for the State Emergency Service, said that rescuers had recovered a total of five bodies.

When asked if this meant that the number of victims had increased by five, she explained:

«Yes, indeed, we had 14 dead before — 13 bodies and one person died in hospital. But it should be borne in mind that the rescuers did not recover all the whole bodies, they recovered fragments — parts of a hand, etc. The identification is currently underway. Only after its completion will we be able to name the exact number of victims,» said Svitlana Vodolaha.

She added that emergency rescue operations at the site are ongoing.

As a reminder, on the night of 17 June, Kyiv came under a large-scale missile attack from Russia. The strikes destroyed more than 40 apartments in a multi-storey residential building and one of the entrances collapsed.
