Due to Russian shelling, Zaporizhzhia NPP lost power to one of the two external power lines connecting the temporarily occupied plant to the Ukrainian power grid.

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.

According to the ministry, the plant is currently receiving power from only one power line.

«The external power supply to the plant, which is necessary for its safe operation, is again under threat. In the event of a complete disconnection from the power grid, another blackout may occur at ZNPP, which will pose a serious threat to radiation safety», the statement said.

The ministry reminded that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, ZNPP has experienced a complete blackout eight times.

Earlier, on 23 April, IAEA experts working at Zaporizhzhia NPP heard loud gunshots near the main administrative building where their office is located.
