Ukraine loses Su-27 fighter jet while repelling drone attack

Su-27 of the Air Force of Ukraine, photo: Ministry of Defence of UkraineOn the morning of 28 April, Ukraine lost a Su-27 fighter jet while repelling an attack by Russian drones. The pilot managed to eject and was quickly found by a search and rescue team.
The pilot is currently in hospital in a stable condition, and his life is not in danger, the Air Force Command said.
A special commission is investigating the causes of the loss of the combat aircraft. The Su-27, along with the MiG-29, is the main fighter aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force. These aircraft are in service with the 831st Tactical Aviation Brigade from Myrhorod in Poltava region and the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade from Ozerne in Zhytomyr region.
It should be recalled that since February this year and as of early March, the Ukrainian military has already shot down 15 Russian military aircraft.
