«Efforts are being made to eliminate the consequences of attacks»: Mykolaiv City Hall explains the situation with snow removal

The main focus of the work of public utilities in Mykolaiv is currently on dealing with the aftermath of the recent shelling.

This was stated by the city's vice mayor, Vitalii Lukov, in a commentary to NikVesti, commenting on the situation with snow removal during bad weather.

According to him, the crews are working primarily in the areas where Shahed drones attacks took place earlier. Only yesterday, as we know, about 300 apartments were damaged.

«The biggest problem is to help those people who arrived a few days ago. We have already worked on one address, and now three teams are working at the locations we identified yesterday. And we are gathering people from around the city to reinforce them,» said Vitalii Lukov.

He emphasised that the same utility companies are involved in the clean-up that were previously involved in clearing the aftermath of the shelling.

«To throw away millions of hryvnias worth of resources to show the work for two hours? I think adequate people understand this,» he added.

Vitalii Lukov also noted that the situation on the roads is not catastrophic if drivers are not wearing «summer tyres».

«The snow is not frozen, and there is an extremely limited number of people who can do this or that job. And for the roads, you need to have normal tyres. Passenger transport is running smoothly, and it is much more difficult to control than a regular car, which means that there is no catastrophic situation. We ask people to be attentive and respectful, to be patient for these three hours, and then the weather promises to change for the better,» said the vice mayor.

Bad weather in Mykolaiv region on 11 April

As you know, Mykolaiv and the region have been experiencing heavy snow and blizzards since the night of 11 April. According to forecasts, up to 16 cm of snow may fall in some areas of the region.

It should be noted that in the morning, utilities are clearing the roads of snow. However, the State Road Agency urges drivers with summer tyres not to drive on city roads.

In his morning post, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych noted that the city's roads have already been treated with de-icing agents. The dispatcher on duty is monitoring the situation, and additional equipment will be deployed if necessary.
