Russia attacks Ukraine's civilian infrastructure after talks with Trump

On the night of 19 March, Russian troops carried out a massive attack with kamikaze drones, striking civilian infrastructure in several regions of Ukraine.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, about 40 attack drones were spotted in the night sky of Ukraine, some of which reached their targets.

«Unfortunately, there are also hits to civilian infrastructure. A direct hit of «Shahed» into a hospital in Sumy, strikes on the cities of Donetsk region, attack drones are now in the sky of Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipro and Cherkasy regions,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

He stressed that such night attacks are aimed at destroying the energy infrastructure and normal life of Ukrainians.

«The fact that this night was no exception shows that we must continue to put pressure on Russia for the sake of peace,» the President said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that such actions by the Kremlin were a response to international peace initiatives and demonstrated Russia's unwillingness to end the war.

«Today, Putin has actually rejected the proposal for a complete ceasefire,» the President said.

He called on the international community to respond to Russia's attacks with new sanctions, increased military assistance and stronger security guarantees for Ukraine.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone call on Tuesday, 18 March, to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.

The conversation lasted 1.5 hours. During the conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported US President Donald Trump's proposal to temporarily suspend strikes on energy infrastructure for 30 days and gave the appropriate command to the military.

It also became known that peace talks will begin with technical discussions on the implementation of a naval truce in the Black Sea. According to the White House, negotiations on a naval truce will begin in the Middle East in the near future.
