On the night of 7 March, Russia carried out a massive missile and drone attack targeting Ukraine's energy and gas infrastructure. The attack damaged electricity and gas supply facilities in various regions of the country.
Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko noted that the strikes were aimed at destroying energy facilities.
According to him, where possible, emergency services and power engineers are already working to eliminate the consequences. All necessary measures are being taken to stabilise electricity and gas supplies.
It should be noted that Russians damaged a gas pipeline in Odesa region. As a result, more than 2,500 local residents lost power.
Mykolaiv City Council has set up a working group to develop the city's Energy Sustainability Plan. It is intended to improve energy security and stimulate the city's economic development through investments in renewable energy and infrastructure.
It is also worth noting that in early 2025, Denmark allocated more than 26 million euros in aid to Mykolaiv region. Part of these funds will be allocated to the energy sector: various equipment and solar panels to increase energy resilience.
